The Ruhr-University of Bochum one of the largest Universities in Germany with more than 33.000 Students and 2.400 academic staff. It offers teaching and advanced research in almost all scientific areas, ranging from social sciences to natural sciences and engineering. The unit Environmental Engineering and Ecology– part of the faculty for civil engineering and lead by Prof. Dr. Harro Stolpe - is carrying out the activities of the IWRM-project. The focuses of the unit’s research are dynamic systems formed by human activities and the environment:
- human affected ecosystems, forecast of environmental effects, numerical simulation
- environmental planning based on geographic information systems (GIS)
