Objectives and scope of activities

The main project objective is the development of regionally adapted sustainable concepts for water management in Vietnamese regions including economic and social factors.

The specific objectives of Fraunhofer UMSICHT’s scientific work comprise the following:

  • Development of transferable industrial concepts by tailoring the methods of Cleaner Production (CP) technologies and scientific monitoring of adapted specific process technologies in numerous small and medium-sized metal processing enterprises in "rural industrial zones" (Industrial concept 1)
  • Development of adapted and transferable technologies for the prevention and treatment of wastewater in numerous small and medium-sized enterprises in different branches in "urban industrial zones". Also here, CP methods will be applied to develop branch-specific concepts. (Industrial concept 2
  • Development support for adapted wastewater treatment plants in "rural residential zones" as well as scientific monitoring of test runs of two different wastewater treatment technologies. (WWTP 1)
  • Development support for new adapted wastewater treatment concepts and adapted sewage network management for "urban residential zones". (WWTP 2)
  • Organization and implementation of training courses and workshops for stakeholders in the wastewater industry in Germany and Vietnam. (Training courses)
