Institute
The Fraunhofer
Institute of Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT in Oberhausen, Germany,
is one of 56 institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, a leading German
research organization. In 2006 with a staff of more than 250, UMSICHT yielded a
turnover of some 18 million euro, more than 40 % of which were orders from
industrial customers.
Fraunhofer UMSICHT
develops applied and custom made process engineering technologies. Assuming a
pivotal role in environmental and material technologies, process engineering
and energy technology, Fraunhofer UMSICHT is committed to sustainable economic
development, environmentally friendly technologies
and innovative approaches designed to improve the standard of living and to
protect the environment.
The focuses of the
business unit Process Technology are on membrane, separation and reaction
technologies as well as on pipeline technology. Technical services range from
closing water cycles, wastewater treatment, resource recovery from process
flows and thermal process engineering to sharing extensive know-how in the
areas of single and multiphase flow systems and downstream processing for white
biotechnology and biorefineries. Role in the project
Fraunhofer UMSICHT is
responsible for the subproject “Criteria for Cleaner Production Technologies in
Vietnamese Industrial Branches - scientific monitoring of engineering developments”
in Nam Dinh Province. People
